Same kid who has the food allergies had dental work with local anesthesia and I noticed some dotty redness around her mouth after she got the shot. I started to panic but it didn't seem to get any worse and later seemed to fade so I relaxed. A day later it still (again?) looks reddish. Is this a normal reaction or could she be allergic?

It could be an allergy. It may not have been to the anesthetic, but rather to something else they used (some kind of cleanser, the plastic thing they use to hold your mouth open, etc).
I would just call the dentist and ask.

As an aside, our allergist informed us that a pinpoint rash reaction on the face is almost never a reason for concern, but you can reach or to your dentist.

I have had alot of dental work done and many times have broken out slightly with dots on my face around my lips which is caused from irritation from the dentist's gloves. (They tend to be pressed against the face when working on my teeth and it irritates it)
