Maybe he dressed up frum??

I'm always wondering if that is the case (where somebody who might not even be Jewish but dresses up as a Hasidic Jew to get away with certain things as may be in this story) what is it considered then?
Is it still a Chillul Hashem although it wasn't a Yid who did it?
I always wonder about this.

Like there was a story about someone who dressed up as a yid in order to steal something, I don't remember what. At the end they figured out it wasn't a Hasidic Jew but just somebody who was dressed up as one. But while the story was going on it really gave a bad image on frum Jews who totally weren't at fault. Know what I mean?

You're right, but lets be honest, B"H they're a tiny minority of criminals! That's why it's so shocking when we hear of one.

No, he's the one that tried to abuse a lady who hitched a ride with him. (there was a thread about it)
