One more thing, again I only have NY experience, but the squeaky wheel definitely gets the grease in this DOE. I mean, you have to play it wisely, but if you just send in your request and wait then you will be the one waiting the full 60-or-whatever days. Or the one whose request got "lost in the mail" or something.

Yes, this is where Ziva a'h came in. She was definitely the "squeeky wheel".

Of course special ed advocacy is a legitimate profession and those who spend their time and bring their expertise into it certainly earn their fees. But SO SO many people need it SO SO badly and really can't spare the hundreds of dollars needed to get the right person to grease the wheels. OK I just mixed that metaphor exceedingly badly but keeping it because it's funny (to me)
