Why don't you just go to your in laws? You don't need to bring things over course by coarse - bring the entire meal over beforehand.
Staggering the meals is quite annoying - who wants to wait to eat when they're hungry?

I guess it depends on the family. We did it last Sukkos and it was actually perfect. The other family always finished shul before us so it worked out well.

You expect a 'amother' to be nice?
RivkiA, I'm just trying to understand what the problem is.
Does it bother YOU that he will be at the table with your family?
or does it bother HIM that there will be ladies at the table? If he knows your family is coming with ladies, does he still want to eat there? Or does he expect you to make the women eat inside because of him?
