Men, women, and children stood in the snow in their pajamas last Tuesday night, watching flames destroy everything they owned. It only took minutes for the avreichim and their families to evacuate the Beit Yosef Novardok yeshiva buildings, just outside of France. Just minutes later, and many lives would have been lost.
“We were counting the families when we discovered that one child was missing,” recalls Rabbi Yaakov Yom Tov. “One of the adults ran in and pulled him out of his bed. Just one minute later would have been too late.”
Tragically, less than a week before Pesach, many of the avreichim of Yeshivas Beit Yosef Novardok are still completely homeless. Those who have found places to stay are without any belongings whatsoever. Many of the yeshiva’s talmidim travelled to France from Eretz Yisroel, in order to help it get started. They emerged from the fire with their lives, and nothing else.
Those who are interested in helping the homeless families purchase new belongings before Pesach can do so here for a limited time.
