no that does't bust the myth. one family having lots of children is not a counter proof for the claim that melatonin supplements may cause infertility.

(as an aside, I've never read any study suggesting a connection between the two - but anecdotally - when a person's hormones are out of wack, chances of getting pregnant decrease).

Its not one person that has a family after taking melotonin. Its multiple famil"ies" who whose children now have famil"ies" k"eh after having taken melotonin.

Yes to me its busted except if I will hear that I am wrong from a top infertility doctor.
I believe if this myth would have any mamashos our IF doctors here in USA would warn parents.

Once or twice a year is ok. But on a regular basis. This is not a job a school can teach children. Parents and child together shod figure out the best bedtime and way to relax. One child dark and silence one night light and uncle moishy. Onea story tape. And one has trouble sleeping with a story tape

My grandmother (a"h) smoked two packs a day and lived to be 89. Smoking myth busted.

The plural of anecdote isn't data.

That said, I've no idea whether or not melatonin effects fertility.

The irony here is that the myth is based on anecdote. It's traveling by word of mouth.

There is no hard data that giving a child 1/4 miligram melotonin will effect his sperm count later on.

The only research I found was this article and they're talking about 3 mg lowering sperm count WHILE taking it.
Survey done in 2002.

And this article written in 2014

But I wonder why The Mayo Clinic doesn't even mention one word about any of this in 2017?
Side affects of Melotonin Mayo Clinic

However, when the subject is smoking its a whole different ballgame.
Everything is out there.

Were those terrible side effects disclosed to certain doctors only? As many pediatricians as I spoke to, pushed Melotonin. Are they blind or dumb?
Or...?

So no - the evidence of knowing a lot of families that have children after using melatonin is not busting the myth.

The myth is busted because it was a rumor, since as you have posted there was no scientific research done (it appears) suggesting this correlation.

The problem is why get your kids used to a sleeping aid to fall asleep every night. What's if they don't get it one night or they are away without it?

What if their lack of sleep was seriously affecting their ability to function normally?
