I have a friend who lives overseas. Someone will be visiting to her and is willing to bring a gift. I know that she will start blood transfusions 3 times a week. I don't know anything about it- does it take long? Is there anything that she can use or something that can make her feel more comfortable? She loves to draw. Will she be able to, or will her arms and hands be limited?

It was incredibly painful for me and the nurses would put warm packs on my arms to try to ease the pain.
I think a good quality heating pad with a soft cover would be a big help. Just make sure the plug is compatible.

Soft tip markers (brush tip type) are very easy to use even if your arms are weak or sore.
I guess these days most people have their phone or iPad to keep them busy while they are going through procedures.

Denim- good point about the plug, I will look into options.
FF-great idea, I was worried about her arms being too weak. You gave me a great idea, thanks!
