That's how Lubavitchers do it. ...it's even in the cookbook, Pink.
Nuts, because of the gematriya AND because it's phlem-producing for the long davening.
Not everyone makes the kreplach out of red meat, either....
LubCoralSpring, you can fry or bake them, and serve them as a side dish. Or make them sweet for dessert!

IIRC you need to add salt or something to the egg if its left with no shell. Ask dh to look it up!

Ruthanne - thanks for bcking me up
LubCoralSprings - you're very welcome but don't be jealous - the lasagna & soup are from the freezer (don't tell!) My sis is coming & bringing the shnitzel & the kreplach are store bought. It just sounds good on paper.
I don't think the nuts or red meat are going to make a difference - we're gonna be starving, thirsty, feeling yuk, no matter what.

The custom is to eat light, easily digestible foods.

the reason I like to eat red meat is that its not light, it stays in my stomach for a long time and keeps me full.

YW! I've also taken food from the freezer, leftover from my RH cooking!
We're having brocolli pie and Asparagus kugel with chicken and rice. I made challah yesterday and for dessert Ive taken an apple crumble out of the freezer which I'll warm up.
For lunch we're having challah, baked teriyaki salmon with roasted red potaoes and salad.
