One of the rebbeim in husband's yeshiva was giving a drosha about how silly bochurim are to think that the designer label on the back of their ties is worth two hoots.
One of the boys actually has a father who makes ties. So he had his father take a tie and sew as many different designer labels as he could fit on the back of the tie, and gave it to the rebbe. They all had a good laugh.

I agree that it's tacky, it's also really sad that people are that desperate to look like they are wearing designer labels.

Oh my you really are out of the loop. Have you ever heard of hidden links? It's a huge movement on Ali. Chinese knockoffs sold on Ali under fake links that you can only access through secret facebook groups. You can literally buy any designer product in the world. Not vouching for the quality but it will fool people who aren't paying close attention.
