You can't strap them in. Once they need to be strapped while stationary, it shouldn't be used as a bouncer at home.

Don't we always turn around and check on the baby when traveling? This is our reminder. I watched the video earlier in the day so I don't remember exactly but IIRC they reported something like 31 deaths from this.

Actually no
All the car seats I’ve used, including the doona, are more upright in the car.

What sort of gemach? To borrow a car seat for a week for traveling?

People that didn’t need their Doona anymore donated it to the gemach I guess

Car seats are designed to be used at a very specific angle when in the car. When installing your car seat, it is important to follow the instructions in order to achieve that angle. Some have a line on the side that must be parallel to the ground. Others have a bubble or ball indicator that you can look at when the car is parked on level ground to tell you if the car seat is installed at the proper angle.
