Yes, im in Monsey. Hes actually insanely difficult to reach so he asks that everyone text him. I have texted him late at night-BUT only because he specifically said its fine to do so, because he turns off his phone whenever hes not available for questions. I wouldnt text a different Rav after normal hours.

Mixed community, MO to RW YU or "shtark MO"? Or Yeshivish Torah UMadda? I hate labels. bUt anyway, rav is always available via email. It's such a pleasure. Even when he's on vacation out of the country he's not only available but responds promptly.

Chassidish mainstream rov in LA is accessible by text.
My mother will text him basic shailos, or ask when he is available to discuss an issue

Is your rav reachable thru text ? What community are you part of ? |
I do even though he only has a flip phone and it probably takes him an hour to respond using those old fashioned keys.

Chassidish in Boro park. I whatsapp whenever I have a question. It's not weird or uncomfortable at all. Quite the contrary. It makes asking so much easier.

I don't have a phone, but my husband often does. (Rav also uses text to tell him learning/ shiur schedules.)
Occasionally, I email specific kinds of questions. It's easier for me and I have a written record. I can just leave a message at my leisure, and he can answer at his leisure.
Other questions are phone conversations.

I text my Rav shailos. Thank G-d. I find it kind of funny that a Chassidish dayan has a smartphone (which he does), but I'm not asking any questions.

Yes but sometimes he needs to ask for more details which goes quicker on the phone so I'll probably only use text/email if we're in different time zones at the moment.
MO, shul has no rabbi, the rabbi we go to first is a friend as are the other rabbis in the shul who we'll ask if he's not available.
