Child #1 - homemmade desserts & fruit, b-day cake
Child #2 - bagels & tuna, egg, some nosh, b-day cake
Child #3 - pizza & nosh & b-day cake
With #1, we had no married friends really so it was just family. With #2 & #3 we invited all our friends & their kidsas well as some family.

DD turns one on a very busy day here.... we have a family simcha that afternoon and it is Rosh Chodesh Kislev... the banquet for all the shluchim is that night, so we're probably just going to give her a cupcake to make a real mess with and birthday hats for the three of us so we can take some pics.
No need to spend all that money and time preparing for a party that she doesn't even know is for her!

We just did a "party" at daycare...cookies & music. His birthday fell on Shabbat, and he has a cousin a week older, so we did a family lunch at my ILs so that everyone could come and celebrate both birthdays together, and each child got a small cake (between the 2 cakes there was enough for everyone).
