Hello ladies
I am curious if anyone sends their kids in an Uber alone ever ?
For example: if the kid sleeps in and misses the bus to school. Or if a kid is sick and you can’t pick them up from school.
Would you do it even if the kid doesn’t have a cell phone ?
I’ve seen parents send their 5th and 7th grade siblings in a Lyft (another kind of Uber) late at night when it’s dark
What about a 10 yr old during the day ?
I used to take a taxi home in 7th grade. Do you think taxis are safer ?
What I like about Uber and Lyft is that I can see where the car is on my phone every second and I have the type of car and license plate and phone number in case I see them driving off track.
Curious to hear what others think.
And if you think it depends what city or neighborhood you live in
Thanks for your input

Chances are in favor of your child being safe. I would NOT do such a thing.

Nope, I would never ever do such a thing. This is downright dangerous.
Even I'm scared to take an uber alone.

I go along in the taxi/car service and make a round trip. Drop my kid off and head back home. I don't think it's safe. I don't feel it's safe for my kids even with frum drivers.
My teenagers ages 14 and up have gone themselves

You can request a woman driver if it makes you feel better. Lots of women request it, especially late at night. I would not let a child go alone in a car with a strange man.

No I wouldn't let a child girl or boy of any age go alone anywhere.I have sent my dd In a group, with a neighbor with his own family. I have send two children together requested a woman driver got a frum woman and had the child call me when she got to school. The driver also called me when she reached my house so I also had her cell number if I needed it.

Not safe. In addition, they don't always leave you off at the point of designation. Several times, they dropped me off one and a half blocks away from where I was supposed to be going and refused to go any further.
I would recommend your children go with a reliable car service.

I don't know that you can request anyone in particular, no.
I've taken uber alone many many times, as my father was in hospital.
Yes I would send several kids together at day, or a teenager alone.
It is NOT riskier than walking through.

Actually Uber doesn’t allow this- no idea why parents still manage to do it:
https://help.uber.com/partners.....49ccd
“A rider must be at least 18 years of age to have an Uber account and request rides. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by someone 18 years of age or older on any ride.”

Officially it's illegal for an Uber driver to take anyone under 18 alone without an adult. I once sent an Uber for my 15 and 16 year old daughters to get home from school and he wouldn't take them because he said he can be charged for kidnapping

"How do you request a woman driver?"
Not a uber the Jewish car service. It's more money but I get a drum lady driver. Fyi:A non Jewish lady driver in today's days can be a transgender as opposed to a drum woman looking for extra income for her family

What does this have to do with anything?

I recently had my HS DD take an Uber home. I just got to work when she needed something from home for a school program. There was no one available to drive her and all the jewish cabs didnt have a car available. I monitored the ride.
