My daughter is nearing 15 and still did not get her period. (She is quite thin.) At the last well visit 7 months ago the dr. said to wait another year. I know its still in the range of normal but I'd prefer not to give hormones when the year is up. Has anyone tried anything that helped? Would acupuncture help?

If your doctor said to wait it out, I would listen to his advice and not start messing with her body.

Wait it out. My dds were on the skinny side, and only got their periods at 15 and 16.5 years. They are just fine.

To add - I have never heard of even toying with the idea of hormones at such an age. 16 is late, but is still normal.

Girls with later periods have the lowest chances of cancer. Leave her be.
Let her enjoy this "mess-free" time in her life. She'll be getting cramps and demanding chocolate before you know it.

She needs to eat more before you mess with her body
Are you sure she doesn't have an eating disorder

Ectomorph, shes not yet 15! I would get worried once she's over 16. I got my period at 16, I'm fine bh.

Dont fatten her up so she can get her period!!!!
Nature will take its course, and she will probably start gaining a bit once she stops growing. At which point she will also get her period.

What's natural is to let nature take its course.
I hope this will happen naturally soon!

Thanks for your replies.
I know it's within the normal range, it's just interesting to see her younger neighbors and relatives, who are 4-5 years younger than her that are maturing...
(No, b"h she does not have an eating disorder, though she's not a big eater. )
We'll wait it out, for now.
Thanks.

I got my period at 16, sister at 11. We have both always been very thin and I'm not sure what weight has to do with a period unless you have an eating disorder. I'd just wait, and I don't think 15 is too old.

If anything I'd be definitely more worried by a ten year old
