Not sure where it's from but DH is very against letting me throw out leftover challah/bread.

Like in CH Puke

I actually took DD to the park and fed the birds. We watch them devour the challah. Great way to get rid of the bread!

notin israel though... we have no ducks by us and I knwo my father is very into not throwing out and when he woudl vome he would say shke the breadcrumbs into the neighbours garden. I told him no thanks. so I do throw mine out, I don't want cats and snakes in my garden and my neighbours don't want my mess in their. so dh says to throw out indouble bags.

ps uyous hould see how much sis left by teh grocery taht goes back to teh bakery.... wonder what angels and berman's do wiwth it??!!

My friend married a syrian, and she told me that they all do it for this reason (she was at my house and wouldn't even throw her son's leftover crusts directly into the garbage)

I guess it works....

Moldy is not edible so its not really considered food. There are people who dont throw out any leftovers right away, rather wait until it gets spoiled/moldy and then dump it. This way its not really baal tashchis.
