Flying with baby domestically for the first time next week.
We went to get him a passport today for an upcoming international trip and they took his birth certificate. Now I’m realizing I probably need it... do I?
And any tips on how to make this as smooth as possible?

I usually take a birth certificate but in dozens of flights that I've flown they've never once asked for it.

If you're flying without your husband make sure you have a notarized letter allowing you to fly with baby!

It could be more the airline. I always need it when I fly with the airlines I have used.
See what else they will accept as proof of age.
Immunization records I know ppl have used . Could be an after visit summary from a pediatrician.

You can get another birth certificate by going to the county seat office of vital records

Call the airline.
This march I flew with my 9 month old at the time, to Florida with united. I didnt need any identification for him. But they did need advance notification- added his name to my itinerary.
