Does anyone else not have particularly oily skin, but have some days when your nose is shiny no matter what you do? Does anything work?

Dab a bit of pressed powder once you finished applying makeup,it gives a more natural look to the face and mattes any shiny areas.

Sounds counterintuitive, but the skin might actually be super dry. Try using an alcohol-free toner and then moisturizer after your shower.

Is there nothing to do about the shine without makeup?

I would start a skin care regiment that includes an acid/chemical exfoliant, such as tarte knockout tingle toner (I might be messing up the name). Over a couple weeks of use, it balanced my skin completely.

Oh, sure! I don't wear any makeup.
Baby powder is good for shine.
You also don't want to be harshly soaping up your face, and drying it out. It sounds counter intuitive, but after washing your face, massage in some jojoba oil, and after a few minutes pat off the extra. Your skin will produce less oil because it's already got enough sebum there. No more shiny!

Corn starch is healthier than baby powder and helps with sweet. I used to dab it on my face as a camp counselor.

100 percent corn starch. I use baby powder because it's very fine, and it's cheap. Any other very fine powder would probably do just as well. Unfortunately, ever since the asbestos scare I don't go near the talc baby powder.
