One of mine was born 8 Tishrei and I did the shiurim for liquid but abstained from food. My milk was okay.

Really? I take them every yom kipper and tisha b'av - pregnant, nursing or neither. The one time I didn't take them, I was miserable.

I tried the kali tzom pills once and it was my worst fast ever, it was awful!
I take tylenol/caffeine suppositories 2 times throughout the day and it really helps me feel better.

I have nurse exclusively with shuirim. I believe it is 1oz. Q 9 minutes.
If you stay on top of it (which is annoying-granted) that is 80 oz. in 12 hours. That is actually excessive and one would clearly not need more than that.
It is more than doable. Just a lot of dedication and conscientiousness.
