We asked our very chashuve and highly knowledgeable rav this question, and he told us we absolutely should not feel obligated to make a kiddush; any celebration thanking Hashem and inviting others to participate is just as good.

If the rav said to collect brachos, you can do it any time or he wouldn't say do it at 20 (ridiculous to me, unless you find a great excuse).
So, bm. Or whatever. It doesn't even have t obe on shabbes, or at shul. And naming at Torah counts as people giving brachos - if that's the inyan (ha) around.
