Any tips on how to wash and drain the quinoa without all the tiny grains disappearing down my drain?

I always struggled with this too until I learned you can buy prewashed for not much more money. I buy the Ancient Harvest brand if that’s useful. Sorry I don’t have real tips. Maybe line a colander with cheese cloth?

You don't think the title was a trigger warning?

I bought a fine metal mesh strainer for this. I found one at TJ Maxx years ago that was kitchenaid brand, and I've seen other brands of pretty fine ones at Amazing Savings too.

Maybe Yael can ban threads on quinoa, just like she bans threads on homos and transvestites, out of consideration for JF's sensibilities.

FYI, On the topic of quinoa, I saw this recently:
*QUINOA*
In recent months many brands of quinoa all over the US were found to contain booklice. Until this infestation is proven to have stopped one should only eat quinoa after a thorough inspection. The method of checking includes pouring the quinoa into a fine mesh sifter and agitating the quinoa for 30 seconds over a white surface. If any booklice are found on the white surface, the quinoa should be discarded.
