Thinking of going there for shabbos and then possibly going to Sedona or the grand canyon for the next two days. Any ideas of where to stay for shabbos near a minyan? And then if we go to the grand canyon is there a closer flight to take back to NYC instead of driving back to Phoenix? Thank you

No closer major airports, though you could check Las Vegas, which is roughly the same, to see if the flight options there are any better (though you may have extra expenses for a 1-way car rental). Also look into spending Shabbos in Flagstaff, which is closer to Sedona and GC and may save you some driving time on your short trip.
