Can you help me dye a wig on my own?
It’s an older wig that I started wearing only in bad weather so I guess I’m willing to take a chance.
My brown wig now looks reddish.
I bought dark brown “permanent cream hair color “.
It was very cheap. Does that matter?
If I follow the instructions will this work on a wig? Is there something special that is used for a wig?
Do you think I will completely ruin my wig? If so, I’d rather not use it!
Do you use shampoo and conditioner after rinsing off the dye?
In the past I paid a lot for my wig to get back it’s medium/dark brown color.
It doesn’t seem to be too complicated.
Need advice...

Tip 1 - don't apply dye horizontally! If you get differences in color it will look like highlights but horrible if lines are horizontal!(yes I've seen it!)
Tip 2- don't leave dye as long as it says on the box! (Sheitel hair is very proccessed and whol absorb dye faster than reg hair!)
3- no shampoo. Dye unwashed sheitel. Rinse as many times as you still see foam.
4- condition very very well! Usually special conditioner comes with dye.

Never done it myself, but there are many YouTube videos on dying wigs. Check those for some visual tips

How much have you paid in the past - cost me $80 to do an entire recoloring from reddish and that was at a top colorist, I could have found a more amateur one for cheaper. Just saying for the risk of ruining it I'd pay that much (I'm very diy otherwise and wash/set/style my own wigs but a bad dye job costs more to fix)

I dye my own wigs with great results. I use a paintbrush to apply the dye, which makes it easy to avoid painting the silk top.
Try testing the dye in a hidden spot (such as the underside of the nape of the neck) before dyeing the entire wig. Let the hair dry, then decide if you like the results enough to dye the whole wig.
