Like the subject says, what are the best ways to teach a child to prevent bullying. nothing going on at the moment BH, but has a little in the past and worried as he gets older and closer to middle school that it could happen again. He is a sweet but not very cool type of kid.

Bullies are looking for a reaction. They get tired of being on the attack if they don't get "an entertaining response." With the right response, the bully will move on to someone else.

Director : You're ugly.
Nerd : So what?
Director : Your family isn't frum.
Nerd : Thanks for letting me know.
Director : You can't hit a ball.
Nerd : Thanks for the compliment.
Director : Ha. Ha. Your baby sister is Down's.
Nerd : So what?
Director : Your family is dirt poor.
Nerd : So?
Director : Your cousin is in jail.
Nerd : Tell me something I don't know.

Have friends. Bullies pick on loners.

Also, to stand tall and look confident.

By the way, some bullies have personality disorders that stay with them into adulthood. Every parent needs to teach their child to recognize what a bully is. Someone who puts you down or tries to take advantage of you is a bully. The best way to deal with such a person is to avoid them. If you can't, then keep the conversation to a minimum.

Examples of taking advantage are people who always ask to borrow your things with no intention of returning them. Teach your child only to lend out items and/or cash that he doesn't need.

A person who has a complete disregard for other people's property is also a bully. As children, they don't care if they break other people's things. As adults, they don't care if their children destroy the property of others. They can also be bosses who don't pay their employees in a timely manner.

No matter what stage we are in life, we always have to be on the alert for bullies.
