My 2 year old has a terrible diaper rash for a few days. Every diaper change involved bitter tears, he can’t sit.. I’ve tried so many different creams. What can I put on it to give it quick relief and for it to start healing?

Are you using alcohol-free wipes?
Also, make a cocktail of desitin, Vaseline, and Ammen's powder

Not even using wipes. Just water and dabbing with tissues.

Get 40% zinc oxide desitin. Target also makes the Up and Up version of this. It’s the zinc oxide that soothes and protects so you want the highest percentage possible and a thin layer goes a long way (all of this per my father who is a pharmacist after I had my first born). If the rash continues to persist red and shiny or with big bumps go the pediatrician as something prescription strength might be in order. Good luck.

My tricks:
Long baths
Let child walk around without diaper (I know, sounds crazy but leaving the area open for as long as possible makes a huge difference).
Do not use wipes. Only water and tissues when necessary.
Apply balmex before putting on new diaper.
Hatzlocha!

I can’t. He’s too young and immature.

1. Diaper free time!
2. Butt paste - maximum strength
3. Very frequent changes.
4. No wipes- wash and pat dry. Moisture is your enemy.
5. Make sure it not a yeast infection- you will need different cream I.e. lotrim or nystatin
6. I try to give the BRAT diet to reduce amount of stool for 1/2 days.
Good luck
Also- my son has allergies. When I didnt know that yet, his stool was sometimes loose and mucous-y. Definitely want to rule that out if above hasn't helped.

Usually the main thing is to keep the area clean and dry. Do not use wipes, rather bounty or rinse off in the tub . Pat try and then let him go without diaper as long as you dare. You can use baby powder generously. (Cover his nose and mouth if you’re concerned about him breathing it in. )

My doctor prescribed zinc oxide it can be prescription but you can also get it not prescription in Walgreens etc. it works amazing it is the main ingredient in Desitin but it’s just stronger
Is he getting a tooth one of my kids right when he’s cutting a tooth gets a very bad rashg But if it’s so bad I would see a doctor personally If the skin is raw he can also have an infection

If the rash is really infected I.e. red spots most over the counter creams won’t work. Most Drs will prescribe nystatin for an infected diaper rash. Works right away
