The doctor in question is a man. I hope he’s not here.

Interestingly enough, that pandemic also lowered the public's trust in science and inspired the trend towards "natural" medicine.
(According to Laura Spinney's book on the flu of 1918)
Countries that trusted their governments more cooperated better with SD rules (no, it's not a new term invented in 2020).
Fascinating but also eerie parallels.

Interesting. What was the cause of that? The fact that there were no treatments for flu and people were desperate?

Well obviously. No one is talking about having huge gatherings, but there's a big difference between the type of economy-killing SDing were doing in NY/NJ and what they're doing. But there's not a big difference in their infection rates.

It means that life isn’t so easy for many people right now. That doesn’t excuse not wearing a mask at the supermarket, play dates, or starting up minyanim again. How do any of those things have anything to do with employment? Or even emotional distress? |
WHOS SAYING DONT WEAR A MASK??? Wear masks! Social distance! Use hand sanitizer! Just let people live! Enough is enough!! Don’t call people killers for daring to allow a barber into their home to cut their hair. Or their cleaning lady to clean their home before they have a nervous breakdown. Mind you, the barber and the cleaner are wearing sanitized gloves and a face mask, but you’re still a murderer. For some reason, you’re not a murder for walking into a liquor store, though.
