My daughter would like to give working with special needs a shot this summer
[some of the phone numbers I called didn't answer so I'm turning to the public]
Can someone enlighten me
what are the differences between the upclub, hcs etc?

You mean kids that have special needs?
HCS, Hamaspik, Rayim etc. are all organizations (for profit-tons of it...) that she can work for. They all do the same thing with small variations. You can either reach out to org. to get kids to work with, or if you have a specific kid you want to work with find out thru which org they go with. You will need to fill out a bunch of paperwork and go down to take fingerprints once approved.

What would she like to do?
Comhab? That’s working with a child with special needs, mostly in their house or take to the park, pizza shop etc. officially goal oriented.
Then there’s respite- which is more like babysitting to give parents a break. Sometimes it’s done in clients or providers home (unless laws have changed on this recently) that includes taking care of clients needs like bathing, dressing etc.
HCS, hamaspik, rayim etc each have their own after school and respite programs which are done more group like.
Some have summer or end of summer programs too.
There are probably more programs too and more agencies servicing the special needs community. I’m not so up to date on all particulars, so other should please chime in or correct me if my info is outdated...
