Im wondering if there are any such novels out there. Not about the story itself but set in those times. If you read or know of such a book please let me know. I will try to do a search myself and I will come back here to post if I find anything for whoever is interested. But I wanted to check here too for suggestions.

The harp
It’s very very good.
I read it and it made me feel like I was really there.
It gives you like a different perspective

The Harp is about the Churban. Pretty intense, a little gruesome.
If you want to read about Bayis Sheini, Morning Star (also by Meir Uri Gottesman) is a lot more upbeat and very educational about the Beis Hamikdash and Parah Adumah. One of my favorite books of all time!

There is one called flashbacks. It was interesting but fanciful, and unrealistic.
https://www.amazon.com/Flashba.....place
There is also a set written in novel form, but really for learning. It is set in the time of the beis hamikdosh, it describes through the eyes of a young boy the shalosh regolim, karbanos, bikurim etc. I forgot what it's called.

I second both of these recommendations! The Morning Star is one of my favorite novels.

Delayed Reaction by Yair Weinstock. It goes back and forth between 1996 Yerushalayim and the time of the second churban Bais Hamikdash.

There is a whole series of books about a boy named naftali and the avoda in the Bais hamikdash. I believe one is called “the seven special weeks”. They do have a storyline. Excellent books.

I loved the uri gottesman books!
I also loved the dove keepers by Alice Hoffman but I wouldn’t read them on tisha bav (highly inappropriate...).

Do. It's magnificent.
MU Gottesman also wrote a book called Morningstar about the last Parah Adumah but I'd sooner read The Harp on Tisha B'Av as Morningstar has a secondary, contemporary story.
ETA: Great minds, I see Morningstar also came up.
And I also second Chains.
