Do you get a thrill by starting a post that gets lots of replies?
I do!
Why?
Low self esteem?Abusive childhood?Therapy? anyone?

I once wrote and posted a poem here that got lots of positive responses. It made me feel really good as my writing had just been criticized by a magazine. (And I KNOW I wrote well)

None of the above. I simply enjoy discussions on interesting topics so if I think of an interesting topic I open a thread on that.

So you should be able to ask why.

Are you a somewhat newish poster? The thrill disappears with time.

Either when I have a question I need an answer to or about something that has riled me up and I need to release the tension.

I do very seldom. I might have a question my usual sources are unlikely to know the answer to, or I might have an idea I want to air or discuss and I’m not about to search through fifteen years of imamother posts to see if it’s been addressed before, or I don’t want to hijack an existing thread.
A flurry of positive responses is nice, of course, but I wouldn’t start a thread just to see how many people respond. What would be the point of such a juvenile game? B”H my self esteem isn’t based on the number of people who respond to or “like” or dislike my posts.

If I need information, if a topic that's important to me is not being discussed and lastly if I'm bored I will come up with an interesting conversation to start.
