I’m in the middle of Tomorrow There Will Be Apricots.
Loving it!

Read The Last Mrs. Parrish about a month ago. It was less heavy (although heavy in its own way) than most. If you let me know your genre I can recommend. I read about 3 books a month.

Dear Edward is also fairly current was very clean but not romance. It was OK, not a favorite, but came to mind as it is more current and less heavy than those below.

Do you do Holocaust HF?
Sound outs are:
Beneath a Scarlet Sky
Lost Girls of Paris
The Song of the Jade Lily
The Alice Network
The Invisible Bridge
Tattooist of Auschwitz
Last train to Istanbul
Those who save us

Have you read the books by Ronald Balsam? He is a favorite author of mine.

Adrianna Trigianni is another prolific author I really like. Not heavy but definitely not fluff.

Do you like other cultures?
The Rent Collecter
The Island of Sea Women
The Dressmaker of Khair Khana

Books which are set in the US but past.
The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek
The Kitchen House
The Book of Lost Friends

This is a lot. I will stop overwhelming you.

Let me know if you want more.
