My local stores either sell "brown rice" or "long grain brown rice" -- is the regular one short grain? Why can't I find any that are specifically labeled as short grain?

Short grain is specifically marked as such. Lundberg’s sells it. It comes in an orange zipper bag.

Thanks ra_mom! Can they be used as is, or do they need to be checked?

I've never bought pre-checked rice.

Anything that doesn't look like rice. Usually you won't find anything.
