Hi all. I'm trying to see what the social norm is when it comes to this. I was invited to a simcha and am planning to buy a gift on my own being that I'm a good friend of the bal simcha. There is a group of friends that I'm part of who are pooling some money together to get a gift all together. I'm thinking what the right thing is , to join that part of friends and add my money even though I'm already getting something on my own? It's not a large amount but I'm thinking why would I if I"m anyway getting something myself?

If it were me I wouldn’t join. I would only join if that would be my gift. Once I bought something else already I would give that on my own (I don’t need to give 2 gifts..)

Don’t need to give twice. Either sounds okay

Giving 2 gifts is basically just caving into peer pressure.
