I tried a few hotels/vacation rentals and they are mostly fully booked for the summer... Not talking about bungalow colonies which are booked months in advance.
Are people spending their stimulus money on an extra getaway?

Yes, and also, people are staying closer to home and renting houses/places with kitchens more because they might not want to eat in restaurants yet. People who might ordinarily stay in hotels or fly somewhere more exotic are looking for rentals too.
