Is it only recently that lace tops became in? They didn’t exist before?

They always existed and the black community wore them.
I have done research years ago because I wanted to stop paying frum prices and the conclusion was that they are too gentle for a frum person's use.
Lo and behold now they are in and still too gentle.

I don’t know if I have lace front or lace tops?
Can anyone post a pic? Or describe how to know?

I don't find my lace front gentle.
I wear it often, and it's super comfortable. Granted I haven't had it that long yet but I don't see why it won't last as long as a regular Irene. It's about the hair.

they break and stretch easier and don't last as many years as a skintop.

Take it to your sheitel macher, ask her but you'd probably know if it's a lace top/front!

Gentle meaning it's lace. If any of you have a lace dress, or a 'mesh' dress meant to be worn over a shell dress, you know what I'm talking about. The lace is delicate, you can't throw the shaitel on your head roughly. It takes more care.

It's thick lace, it's really not as fragile as you're making it out to be. Mine isn't at least...

Considering that my skin top from a well known company stretched quite a lot that it would fall down the front of my forehead 2 years in or almost fly off my head in the wind, and even though I took it in after 2 years stretched AGAIN, I can't see how the lace would stretch even faster lol

I didn’t even know it but I have a lace top. Got it 10 years ago. All I knew was that it was natural looking. When I look inside I can clearly see the lace inside

I am not gonna argue with others here, this is the information I dug out after reading countless blog entries, youtube videos and forums of people with hairloss or Black people who have been buying hair online for decades. That's what they said.
I didn't even get a lace top in the end. But it does make sense.
If someone got a lousy skintop does not mean that lace is not delicate.
