I have a Char Broil gas grill and try as I might, I cannot manage to get that yummy BBQ [smokey] flavor on my food.
I feel like the food tastes exactly the same as if I cook it in my oven on broil.
Is it ONLY possoble to get that taste with a charcoal grill?

You can buy woodchips that you put in the fire section to create that smoke.

Wood chips. Or use smoked paprika/smoked garlic powder or liquid smoke in your marinades.

Your grill is too clean. It needs a little residue on the grates to get that smoky taste.
