I use it as long as the end product of the recipe is more sweet then sour.

We just don't eat sour things. (I don't think we ever gravitate to sour at any time of the year anyway). Vinegar is not an issue for us per se. Our pickled items are usually sweet or salty anyway.

We just don’t eat very bitter or sour things. I would use vinegar in a recipe for flavor
