Hi to all
I'm going be'H on Wednesday to the Eye Doctor with my 9 year old.
He has sensory issues, as in whatever he feels, he feels it x10.
You touch he's "tickle spot", he'll burst into giggles
You accidently bump into him, he'll react as if you'd thrown a couch on him.
Overall good, smart, sociable, helpful kid.
Whenever we go to the Dr for an eye check-up and eye drops are needed, he melts down from when the drops are inserted for about 45-60 min.
The Dr. that we go to is very accomodating: only giving eye drops in the winter (the sun excurabiates the symptoms), give us a room for ourselves instead of going back to the waiting room until the drops kick in.
If Dc is impossible, the Dr. will evaluate him on the couch etc...
Well, I can't be the only Mama going through this.
Anybody, been there and done that, with some advise???

Btdt a bunch of times.
The eye drops are not 100% necessary. My doctor has special lights she can use instead.

Just ask not to do the drops. They’ve always accommodated us on this.

I don't think they have special lights.
I want a through out check up and don't to miss anything due to DC being difficult.
My family has loads of eye issues.
Is there anything besides circumventing the eye drops that would be helpful?

If he complains because of the light sensitivity, bring a pair of sunglasses for him to wear in the waiting room, not just for outside. If the sunglasses are wraparound, even better. (If not, try a sweatshirt with a big hood to block from the side) You can also try a cap to shade the light more. Talk about how this will help before, and have him try out the combination at home.
