Where can I find stencils?

I got mine here
Look through the designs
I used a shimmer metallic paint for the top layer. So it's a subtle shimmer design.

Good luck!
They also have instructions and you can easily learn how to do it. Also it won't be perfect. But Noone will notice except yourself.

You can do board and batten, or beadboard, to paint the wall all one color but make it cool.

Thanks, I saw that but everything on their instagram page was only 1 color per wall.

But even the solid colors shimmer and sparkle with different colors and shades.

Im thinking Id love to paint subtle vertical wavy stripes or a subtle vertical flame stitch pattern, or interlocking squares and rectangles, and I cant find someone to do that.

If you have the same repetitive pattern on a whole wall, if theres one spot thats darker than others and not identical in intensity, its shouts out at you, so more abstract designs are more forgiving.

You could do this with tape, and the walls in the same color of paint but with different levels of sheen.

These looks will come out much nicer on wallpaper imho

You can buy a stencil you like diy if you really want to do paint

Thanks!

You dont have to worry about "mistakes" on wallpaper, but I very much dislike seams all over the place. I used to wallpaper all my rooms, everywhere, but I havent used wallpaper in 10+ years.

I much prefer a painted room, but I want a pattern.

I started a thread about that.

Two painters told me its insanely expensive, $300 a gallon, and very delicate. You cant use anything like soft scrub (even with no bleach). You can only use a little dish detergent, so Im scared of it.

If it would be easily cleanable and practical long-term, Id have done it.

there are very cool mural wall papers that are one piece so you avoid seams, and if you use someone good you should be seeing them even with reg. installation

But you can just hire someone who does murals to do what you want, I wouldn't diy unless you are very artistic.
some pics I found on houzz of this kind of thing
