Or the one written by his brother, Naphtali Lau-Lavie, Baalam's Prophecy. I read that before Out of the Depths was published and found it fascinating. It's been recently republished.

Behind the walls. I don't remember who wrote it. About a child hidden in a convent during the holocaust.

I'd love some ideas of well-written memoirs, specifically those that would appeal to older teenagers (both boys and girls). Or any other interesting frum nonfiction.

For kids who are somewhat intellectual. So written on at least a high-school level, if not higher. Not like most frum books these days, which are geared to middle schoolers...

Nor the Moon by Night by Devorah Gliksman. I can't recommend this book highly enough! The writing is so incredible that you feel like you are literally there. This book made a huge impact on me. It is one of the best-written books I have ever read, Jewish or secular.

My family loved "samarkand" by rabbi zaltzman. I think I remember a chapter detailing how mikvah worked in communist times, I don't know how you feel about reading that with teens. Overall entertaining in addition to inspiring.
The last 2 are chabad.org links. I read the actual books, the links may be missing chapters, I don't know.

(A daughter of 2 mother’s is written as fiction. The author says she was told the story by the main character who didn’t want the book written until after her death. But supposedly the story line itself is true. It is fascinating and heartbreaking)

Voices in the Silence by S.Z. Sonnenfeld- it's Rebbitzen Basya Barg (Mayzlik)'s story of growing up completely frum in Communist Russia. An unbelievable story.

I loved this book, it is very powerful, but I'm pretty sure it is fiction.
