How long does it take to get an Israeli birth certificate and passport. What is the processing time? I thought you got them on the same day you applied for them.
Thank!

I think the Misrad HaPnim does not recommend that you go to their offices for at least a month after the birth of the baby, because sometimes it takes a while for the baby's birth to be processed and won't show up in the computer. If the baby is in the computer, you can get the birth certificate that day. If there are no lines and everything is working, you can also get the passport that day, but sometimes it doesn't always work out that way. If you're in Yerushalayim, go to the Misrad HaPnim in Gilo- there are usually very few people there and it moves quickly.

Yeah, it depends on the office.
1. The hospital has a month to send in the formal registration of the birth. If you're desperate, you can go in with the paper copy from the hospital, but you won't walk out with the birth certificate like you would if it was already in the computer. (Learned this the hard way.) You can ask for more than one original birth certificate, and you can ask them to print it in English as well. (If for example you need it for a registration of birth for another country as well...)
2. Passport depends on the office. In Ma'ale Adumim you walk in with the form and pictures and walk out with the passport. At the main branch in Jerusalem it takes a few days, and the passport will be sent registered mail. I don't know anything about Gilo, or other branches.
