How do you bread with quinoa OP? And to the above poster, it may not be low cal if fried, but it's certainly a balanced meal especially if the salad has lots of healthy veggies, not mostly iceberg lettuce and sugary dressing.

is it diff than regular white potatoes? cos try to stay away from them - too starchy.
Sweet potatoes are a superfood, unlike white potatoes. Also a lot less gmo.

Agree, and spreading misinformation is even worse. “I once heard” doesn’t mean a thing.

not wanting to eat potatoes does not mean being obsessed with health.

there are hundreds of posts on here regarding diets and food groups etc every day something else and no one is told obsessed with health...

so interesting! All 3 mixed to coat or first flour, then egg, then quinoa? Do you spray with oil before baking?

If you want to avoid carbs yourself, go ahead.

But depriving your children of potatoes (substitute with sweet potatoes if they like it) rice (use wholegrain if preferred) etc. is unhealthy.

Children shouldn't be on a diet of just protein and vegetables.

(As an aside, not sure why this is in Women's Health if this is a family meal plan. Even if you want to be careful with your own weight, it isn't fair to put your entire family on a diet.)

I actually dont stay away from carbs.

I bread the schnitzle in flour and quinoa.

I just understood that potatoes is a unhealthy carb so I wanted to stay away from it.

I make potato kugel twice a week so I don't want more of it.

I would say potato kugel is very unhealthy, with all the oil and eggs. I'd be okay with it on shabbos, but not more than that.
Everything in moderation.

I would much prefer to serve my kids yams or rice than potato kugel

I put in very little oil and eggs - I use free range- are super healthy and vital in a kids diet just like
everyones beloved potatoes and sweet potatoes...

With all due respect, I think it would be best to meet with a Registered Dietitian (RD, not a "nutritionist") to learn real facts about nutrition. I am seeing a lot of myths and misinformation in your posts.

but for adults doesn't it cause weight gain?

I heard once that potatoes hasn't got much in it?

The only person who can give you real health information is an RD. Not blogs, not social media posts, not "coaches".
