I'm melting in my shells. Any suggestions?

What are you using the shell for?

What fabric is the shell made of?
Does it have sleeves, or sleeveless?
If you don't need the extra sleeve length, avoid short sleeves, and look for a wide arm hole. That allows the body to release a lot of heat.

I got some cropped shells a few years ago. They end right under my bra band. I get a decent neckline and sleeves without all the extra bulk. I also got one that are sleeveless for shirts where I just need a little more chest coverage. I’d look for something like that.
I wish I could recommend the brand but they went out of business.
Try looking for “dickies”.

Shell Station sells them as cropped shells.

I can't find it on their website now, but a few years back I bought a "tissue tee" from Target. It's amazing. 100% cotton. Super soft. And do thin it's a bit see through. Can't use as a tee shirt on is own, but it's a perfect shell.

I don't like the elastic on the cropped shells.

I've started wearing a cropped lightweight cotton sweater (shrug? bolero? short cardigan?) for some of my summer clothes instead. It's easier to have a layer that doesn't cling.

I threw them out this year. I wear non see through 100% cotton tees and thin cotton cardigans instead. Dresses that don’t need anything under.

These wrinkle terribly. I hate having to adjust the shoulder part.

Pull out the elastic.
I have a few shirts that don't need shells and it's really a game changer. I've even taken some shirts to the seamstress to have the neck pulled in a bit if it's a little too open.
