You pay only 150 a month on tuition for your first grader??

I'm from cleveland. I get crazy low tuition but don't worry- no consistent CY milk and chicken is $11 a pound. Can't have it all.

And it could change at any time. And then it bumps up to $12,000 a year.

Zero. My children's Talmud Torah is covered under Israel's Ministry of Education.

I do pay parent fees for toys and trips - they usually collect 300-400 shekels per kid, once in the beginning of the year.

I live in Chicago, and full tuition + fees for jdby/ytt are 15k per kid. I get a discount bh since they took into consideration how much I spend on babysitting for my younger kids. I spend about 20k per year for both,2k per month.

Preschool Girl $7000
Elementary Boy $ 5,000
Mesivta $9,000

This is after discounts and does not include all the other fees such as registration, building fund, lunch, transportation etc.

approximately 3 and a half thousand dollars total for 4 kids , divided between 3 schools ( 3 high school)
This includes school busses, ,book fees, trip fees, ( there are a lot of trips)

But we are in Israel, and the schools qualify as "public schools" ( dati leumi- which is similar to modern orthodox)

Chabad schools. Price is per child:

14.5k beis medrash (there’s no scholarship)
6.5 mesivta (equivalent of high school, discounted)
Boys elementary 4k (discounted)
Girls elementary 5k (discounted)

Tuition is our biggest expense. Even our mortgage and taxes is less than that. If not for the scholarships we wouldn’t make it financially.

Plus building fees, bus fees, registration fees, lunch fees, book fees, dinner fees, and summer program fees.

Yes. Tuition is birth control. My parents said it in the 80’s as did my in-laws.

I am certain that this is why, in israel, even families that are not charedi, are having overall more children.

BH we are able to pay full tuition (though there is nothing much left for extras after tuition and regular household expenses) for 5 kids ranging from beis medresh to kindergarten. (Outside the tri-state, but not a tiny OOT city either) We are paying around 70k total. The amount includes, dorms and food (for 2) and all fees.

The breakdown is
beis medresh -- 17k (including dorm, food)
yeshiva 12th grade -- 17,800 (including dorm, food)
7th grade boy -- 15,090
3rd grade girl -- 10,975
kindergarten (pre-1a) girl -- 9,275

There were periods where we both made less or when my husband was out of work and BH the schools worked with us to give us very reasonable breaks.

Thank you. I feel so heard right now I'm going to cry. My husband says no we need to have emunah, and BH with yad Hashem and almost revealed miracles I got a better job with IYH a salary that will increase, but it's hard to maintain that level of emunah. I find myself panicking alot.

If you don’t mind sharing, what is your annual income? We are paying a similar amount (with scholarships) but not really making it.

interesting. I'm pretty sure in my school (there are two schools that most frum people go to) full tuition is higher then that plus fees.
