My 2 year old is allergic to several foods.
I have found that whenever I bring him to shul, he starts itching his hands and face. Even though he isn't eating anything. Within a matter of minutes his cheeks get an eczema rash.
What could this be?

Dust? My husband is highly allergic to dust and often has flare-ups in shul, if he doesn't take an allergy pill

It's a brand new building and well maintained. Hard to imagine it's dust.

Is there carpet? Brand new carpet can still have chemicals that can set some people off. There's also some things that can he in paint. Have you had him allergy tested?

Is it carpeted? Carpet can trap the dust mites.

No carpet in the shul.
He goes to a small playgroup during the week.
I have had him allergy tested and he did test unusually high for dustmites.
Could it be perfume?

Was the building recently painted? That can also be a trigger.
In general, new constructions are still off-gassing a million different chemicals and in a closed air system, with no open windows to allow fresh air in- it can take time for it to clear.
