Beautiful! I was always bothered by the fact that Hoshanah Raba is such an important day, yet we do nothing about it. I spend the day in the kitchen!

In our home it’s a similar day and feel to Erev Yom Kippur.

Not because I haven’t heard of hoshana rabba seudah (though I hadn’t before imamother) but because I didn’t realize people have a ‘regular seudah’ menu. I make what I want for shabbos and Yom tov. There is no ‘regular’ menu. The word ‘regular’ just isn’t in my lexicon regarding menus. |
I think regular just means typical- soup, meat/chicken, etc.

My family is welcome to make themselves a bagel or whatever cereal and milk they like while I’m in the kitchen making another four meals for second days. |
It is a Yom tov, and as such, many people are makpid to have a Yom tov seuda. It is not a must, but don’t knock the minhagim of others.

It used to be hard for me to prepare so many yomtov meals, till I realized that there is chicken and potatoes
shnitzel and potatoes
meat and potatoes
or throw vegetables with spices (sweet potatoe or green beans or broccoli or mixed in the oven) on 350.
my 12 year old and 13 year old can cook chicken soup, chulent and fish and eggs.
everyone gets enlisted and chooses what they are in the mood to cook.....
Hosta from yomtov in ten minutes does it even better!!!! look up her threaad.
