My dd 2 has allergies to dust, pollen….. that idea. Recently she’s been coughing a lot at night time seems from the heating system.
Her bed is near the vent. Does it make sense to be allergic to something like that and what could be done? We need the heat on

You might have mold in your hvac. Get it cleaned professionally and then 6 weeks later run an ERMI on it. In the meantime, move her bed from there and get aHEPA air purifier

Is it an HVAC system that blows air, or a radiator near the wall/floor?

In my old rental I had really bad allergies when the heat turned on. Definitely move her away from the vent.

We got it cleaned a few months ago. What’s an ermi?

It could be from the heat. Try both:
1) you can get your ducts cleaned
2) buy hepa or other allergy filters which you can attach to your vents.

This.
If she’s next to the vent, it might just be drying her out.

Definitely might be drying her out.it also might help to do a quick daily dust of the vent. I would try to move the bed (or her head to the other side, if that's too hard) and see what happens.

I have similar allergies to your child. Switching to HVAC heat has been very bad for me and causes sinus infections more often.
For such a small child, I would use the very gentle saline mist by Arm&Hammer before bed/bath each night, and then keep a humidifier running in your child's room.
But with one caveat. Humidifiers are a terrible breading ground for mold and that is a worse allergy. Read the humidifier instructions and wash and dry it well every week, the way that it's instructed. Refuah Shelaima!

Make sure to clean all the ceiling vents before the cleaning help comes and have them wash away all the dust (don't do that when he's around, the flying dust is terrible). Keep them clean and maintained.
Change the filters every 6 weeks. It's not accessive. I can feel the difference in my sinuses and breathing.
