Oooh I love maaser money!
I feel like it’s never been my money, but I get to choose who to give it to.

It’s the best part of having a big income!

We were told for a period of time that we couldn't give because we really couldn't afford it. And we counted our school tuition instead. Then I can honestly say that it's much harder to give a little bit when you don't have as much then to give more on when you have a lot. So I feel like even if you can't get a lot but just the fact of giving small amounts gives us in the habit of giving. I remember when I couldn't even give a shekel but only a half. It is definitely a privilege to be able to give but because we struggled so long I try to do everything discreetly. Even if I help friends I do it through an organization where they don't know it's from me. I never want anybody to be indebted to me because I know how much help I had when we couldn't manage on our own.. so I see even if you're not giving the 10% give something because it's really feels good to be able to give even a small amount.
