I live out of town and make 65k, an hourly salary for 35 hours per week. I get benefits too, and pay minimally for premiums from my paycheck for medical, dental, vision etc. I do simple office work for a large corporation, and am in mid management (not manager of my dept. but something in between manager and regular employee). I happen to have a bachelors degree but I totally don't need it, for what I do, when I started I was trained on the job.
My siblings who all live in Brooklyn/Lakewood are convincing me that what I do would make much more where they live. Is that really true? That a typical AR/AP/Finance specialist for an office really make so much more money? Do they really make 100k? I know people in Lakewood who don't make all that much, doing a variety of professions, ie therapists, teachers, babysitting, office work etc. Is this true as a whole for tristate jobs? Or is this talk of "Lakewood pays soooo much for office jobs" really a hoax?
For the record I've been at my job for 6 years.

You may make more but you will also spend more. Housing is crazy expensive. Social pressure can be much higher. At the end of the day you are likely to end up in a similar place.
I davka like aspects of my OOT community that I would not get in Lakewood. So even if I made 2x what I make now why would I move for money if I am happy here.
