I always buy my appliances in one place in BP. I always get an extended 5 year warranty no matter how much I paid for the appliance.
In the last year I bought 3 fridges there, one of them a small Whirlpool 11 cu ft fridge that I paid just under $600 (a year and 2-3 weeks ago, March 2022). It may have had a manufacturers warranty until 2-3 weeks ago. But its 2-3 weeks past the year now.
When I buy fridges in this place I get an email with the extended warranty but stupidly the extended warranty doesnt say which appliance its for.
Turns out they may not have charged me for an extended warranty for this $600 fridge and it may be dead., so I may not have an Extended Warranty for this 1 y.o. fridge.
Do I dump it and get a new one, or risk having a service person come down, charge me for the service call and the needed parts that may cost almost the price of the fridge, and then I still dont have any extended warranty.
The store isnt being helpful because theyre swamped with customers now.

If you bought it on an American express card then you have an extended warranty past the regular warranty on the product

Of course repair it. Hire an appliance repair guy to come down.

And what if it costs half the price of the fridge and I have zero extended warranty?

what brand is the fridge? if its a decent brand you could call customer service and tell them its a few wks out of warranty can they cover a service call for you as a courtesy.

This.
If it's a good brand, they might.
The problem with these extended warranty is that you have to use their repairman and last time I had to call the wait time was 10 days to have someone look at it! Of course it was right before Yom tov too!
