That is a question that can't be answered since there are factors that are individual to you - your zip code; your driving record and the value of your car determine the premium to a great extent.

Coverage which you select also impacts premiums - you can get the statutory lowest limit for your liability policy. Collision is determined by value of your car as well as the deductible that you select.

You would need to call various insurance companies and get comparable quotes for the exact coverage you need.

Sounds high. Go to a broker and see what they offer you.
You can take certain classes for discounts.

Dh has 1 accident on his driving record and pays more like $750 for 6 months.

That sounds low.
Is this for a post 2020 Rav 4?

Do you have any accidents on your record? Do you have any points from tickets?
What city are you insuring in? Even from zip code to zip code makes a difference.
How new is your car?
Do you want just liability or full comprehensive?
There are so many factors, the actual car model being the least of them.

Shop around either by yourself by getting quotes through various insurances or through a broker.

No accidents on my record, no tickets, this is for a brand new 2023 rav4 hybrid in New York. I did some online research and read that this model has one of the lowest insurance costs of all cars, like under $100. And then I started asking around for quotes and was in for a surprise.

So I was wondering if this is the norm.

For NY definitely sounds reasonable, more on the low side actually (if your zip codes in the city)

Its really hard to know offhand without imputing all your info into a rating system since so much is dependents on your personal info- age, marital status, mvr history, insurance history, zip code.. etc

What you read could be true- that its lower than other make and models but that doesn't mean its cheap Wink

Additional it also depends on which coverages you choose

What google "quotes" is usually state minimum coverage and either a high deductible for comp and collision or no full coverage at all

You just need to have the state minimum requirement. However, realize that you get what you pay for. You want to make sure you are covered for all major life events. Premium differs based on so many factors.

If the car is leased or financed you need to have comprehensive and collision so that the bank gets paid if something happens.

If you own it out right, you can decide if it's worth it for you.

Fair point about the leasing to have comp/coll coverages.
