Sandals are not as safe for walking as shoes or sneakers. A lot of parents won't put younger toddlers in sandals for that reason.

I don’t but only because I like socks with sneakers. I find kids get so dirty and injured in open toes.

Every year around this time my sons cheder reminds the parents in their weekly newsletter to please not send boys the cheder with sandals. That it's not safe and the boys little toes can get hurt.... they have big heavy doors in cheder and toys can be dropped on their toes too.
I obviously wouldn't want my kids hurt so I don't buy them but sandels sans socks, Absolutely adorable.

Shh…don’t tell anybody. My 5 yr old daughter is wearing a black dress with bright pink graphics on it and black socks and bright pink strappy sandals today and I think she looks adorable. I love my own creative sense of style and fashion and sometimes that means committing major fashion faux pas. I admit that I am doing this even if it’s a big no no.
